What Is an Active-Deterrence Security Camera?
An active-deterrence camera doesn't just record an incident — it creates a visible and audible response while someone is still outside.

Recording versus responding
A conventional security camera has one job: record what happens in front of it. The footage is useful after the fact — for evidence, for checking who visited, for reviewing an incident — but the camera itself doesn't do anything in the moment someone is on your property.
An active-deterrence camera adds a second job: respond while the person is still there, before they reach a door or window.
How the deterrence layer works
SCKA installs Dahua TiOC Pro cameras, which combine 8MP surveillance with active-deterrence features. When the camera detects a person in a configured zone, it can trigger two responses at the exterior of the property:
- Red and blue flashing warning lights — a highly visible signal that the area is being monitored
- An audible siren or pre-recorded warning — an additional sound response when appropriately configured
Designed to deter, not guaranteed to stop
The objective isn't to promise that no one will ever attempt your property. No system can honestly guarantee that. The aim is to make your home a less attractive target in the moment — to give someone who's already on your property a clear, immediate reason to leave before they get any further.
That's a meaningful difference from a camera that quietly records someone walking up to your back door.
Deterrence is the first layer, not the whole system
Active deterrence works best as the exterior layer of a complete system. If someone gets past the cameras, a second internal layer — detection and an internal siren — keeps the property protected inside.
Pairing the two is what turns a set of cameras into a security system rather than a recording device.
