Voltage Electrical Supplies, Lytton, Brisbane QLD 4178
The property
Voltage Electrical Supply is a wholesale supplier of electrical equipment, with a car park, customer entrance, shed, delivery area and upstairs offices with additional storage.
The assessment
Before specifying equipment, we assessed how vehicles, deliveries, staff and customers moved through the site. The design needed to address concerns about suspicious activity around the car parks and provide visibility across the delivery area, shed, entrance and upstairs offices.
Vulnerabilities identified
- Limited visibility of activity in the car parks, particularly near neighbouring businesses.
- Delivery drop-offs that were difficult to monitor.
- Areas inside the shed with limited camera coverage.
- The front entrance.
- Upstairs offices and storage areas.
The system design
We designed a seven-camera Dahua CCTV system using 8MP/4K cameras with flashing red and blue lights and sirens. The cameras were positioned to cover the car parks, deliveries, shed, entrance and upstairs areas. The deterrent features can activate when someone enters the configured detection zones.
The CCTV layer
Seven cameras were installed across the property:
- Three cameras in the car parks to provide visibility of vehicle and pedestrian activity.
- One camera at the delivery drop-off area to monitor parcels and delivery activity.
- One camera inside the shed to cover activity in the warehouse space.
- One camera inside the front entrance to monitor the entry area.
- One upstairs camera to cover the offices and additional storage.
The active deterrence layer
The cameras' flashing red and blue lights and sirens provide an added deterrent when someone enters the configured detection zones around the property.
Power & recording
Footage is recorded locally on the property. An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) provides temporary backup power to help keep critical security equipment operating if mains power is interrupted.
The installation
- 01On-site assessmentWe reviewed the property, its layout and the business's security concerns.
- 02Booking confirmationThe deposit was received to confirm the installation booking.
- 03SchedulingA five-day turnaround was arranged.
- 04InstallationThe cameras and recording equipment were installed and commissioned.
- 05Training and handoverThe customer was shown how to use the system.
- 06Ongoing supportPeriodic check-ins were arranged with the business.
The handover
After commissioning, we configured mobile viewing and showed the customer how to use the app and review footage. We also explained how the camera lights and sirens respond when activity is detected in the configured zones.
Follow-up check-ins were completed at 7 and 31 days, with a further check-in planned at 365 days.
The result
Voltage Electrical Supply now has visibility across the car parks, delivery area, shed, entrance, offices and storage areas. The system also provides footage of delivery activity and an added visual and audible deterrent around the property. Before installation, the business had limited visibility across several key areas; now, staff can check activity and review footage when needed.
